Types of Dementia

The term dementia is an ‘umbrella’ term. It is used to refer to a common set of symptoms which are caused by different disease processes that affect the way our brain works. There are a number of different diseases that can cause dementia, many of which are rare. The impact of these disease processes is progressive, over time the impact on our brains will increase.

Younger people are more likely to experience less common forms of dementia. The following pages provide information and links to the most common forms of dementia affecting younger people.
